Retired Abia Civil Servants Receive Accumulated Pensions

Numerous Abia State pensioners have affirmed the report that they had received their cumulative pensions that were due from earlier State administrations. The Abia State administration claims that the pension payments were due between 2014 and a portion of 2023. In his Thursday sermon at Christ The King Catholic Church (CKC) in Aba, Governor Alex Otti said, “Some of you (Pensioners) have been owed since 2014.” You will all be grinning at the conclusion of today, Thursday, March 28, 2024. Examine your finances by today’s end of business.

Additionally, he had already pledged to pay up the arrears of accrued pensions by the first quarter of 2024 in his speech to the people of Abia. Some of the elderly, namely Mrs. Lucy Samuel Nne, Onyema Agbandu, and Kalu Ogbonna, reported receiving notifications from banks.

The delighted pensioners praised Governor Otti for fulfilling his campaign pledge and thanked him for the cash. The retirees criticised earlier Abia regimes, particularly the most recent one, for allegedly mistreating them. As of the time of this report, it was not possible to get in touch with Emeka Okezie, the Chairman of Concerned Abia Pensioners, who was known for spearheading rallies against the former Abia State government.

On Thursday night, however, a few pensioners said that they had not yet received their personal credit alert.
