CP Visits Deserted Imo Community, Assure Readiness To Restore Peace and Security

Oguta Council of Imo State, the state police commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma, has promised help for the quick rehabilitation and full operation of the police division in the area in an effort to bring peace, unity, and security back to Agwa villages.

Agba Central Union, ACU, which our correspondent learned has budgeted over N100 million for the project, is currently doing significant reconstruction work on the division, which was destroyed by alleged thugs in 2022.

While examining the ongoing work at the division on Friday, CP Danjuma, along with other senior command officers and chieftains of the Agwa communities, gave the Agwa people assurances regarding the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, and his directive to efficiently police the state.

He praised the state governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, as well as a few kindhearted locals for their contributions to the restoration of security and harmony in the region.

In an effort to support the police and other security agencies in their resolute efforts to purge Imo of all violent crimes and criminalities, the Imo Police chief also asked for the participation of the whole Agwa community.

In order to make sure that the miscreants who are committing crimes and undermining the peace and development of their community are apprehended and brought to face the wrath of the law, he especially urged the young people in the region to always take advantage of the command of helpful information and support.

Several Agwa community chieftains, including Barr. Benson Akunya, President General of Agwa Central Union, HRH Eze Basil Uba of Mgbala Agwa, HRH Eze Chima Azubuike, Uba Agwa Community, HRH Eze S. O. Onuegbu, Mbano Agwa Community, and Chief Nduka Ozoh, National Treasurer, ACU, spoke to reporters during the CP’s inspection visit. These leaders expressed their gratitude to the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the IGP and the Imo CP, for their intervention and support in addressing the security issues of their communities.

They also promised to support initiatives that would improve the efforts being made to bring back stability and peace, as well as to advance socioeconomic growth, the general well-being of their people, and the area.

The chieftains of the Agwa community also took advantage of the occasion to express their gratitude to the principal sponsors for the police division’s renovation, which included Mr. Faith Mbah, an American industrialist, Agwa Central Union members, and the Agwa Diaspora Forum (ADF), led by Dr. Humphrey Ugo.

Remember that Agwa is among the places in Imo State that have seen a wave of insecurity, which has caused the socioeconomic activities in the area to completely collapse and the local population to flee their communities out of fear of being assaulted or killed by the rapacious alleged hoodlums.
