IPOB Leader’s Detention Crippling South-East Economy — Archbishop Ugorji

The continuing detention of IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal Government of Nigeria is to blame for the catastrophic economic damage in the South East, according to Archbishop Luciuse Ewejuru Ugorji, President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CACN).

At the Episcopal Ordination of Very Rev. Msgr. Thomas Ifeanyichukwu Obiatuegwu as the Auxilary Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Orlu, which took place this Wednesday at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Orlu, Imo State, the prelate made a statement.

He fiercely denounced the instability brought about by the South East’s ongoing sit-at-home edict, which he claimed had forced residents to stay inside on Mondays out of fear for their lives.

The business people in the area lose a significant amount of money every Monday due to insecurity, according to the archbishop of the Owerri Catholic Archdiocese.

Ugorji pleaded with the administration of President Almade Tinubu to investigate the civil remedy in Nnadi Kanu’s release in order to improve the social and economic conditions in the area.
