The Abia State government has established an administrative panel of inquiry to examine the previous administration’s May 9, 2023, recognition and issuance of staff of office to a few traditional rulers.

Magistrate Uche Uwanuakwa Uche (retd) is the chairman of the panel, which was introduced by Uzo Nwachukwu, the Abia State Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs. Chuka Agomo will be the secretary.

The Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers’ chairman, HRH Eze Linus Nto Mba, and its second deputy chairman, Eze Franklin Nwosu, as well as Mr. Dominic Chimbo, are among the other panelists.

Uzo Nwachukwu, who presided over the panel’s opening at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Umuahia, Abia State, explained that the panel’s goal was to investigate lawsuits and issues that arose in certain communities in the state after certain traditional rulers were recognized and given certificates of office.

The commission is also tasked with investigating the claims that certain individuals who were granted credentials and positions of authority were not chosen by their subjects to be their monarchs.

According to Nwachukwu, the panel has two months to complete its work and deliver its reports to the state government.

He cautioned the administrative panel members against victimizing anyone in their tasks and urged them to perform their duties with integrity.

Speaking on behalf of the panel’s members, Chairman Uche Uwanuakwa Uche responded to the commissioner’s accusation by pledging that the group will carry out assiduous work.
