The Nigerian entertainment industry mourns the loss of veteran comic actor Mr. Ibu, who succumbed to cardiac arrest on Saturday evening, as confirmed by his manager, Don Single Nwuzo.

 

Mr. Ibu, aged 62, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Evercare Hospital in Lekki after experiencing a relapse about a week ago. Despite efforts to stabilize his condition, the actor tragically lost his battle with health complications.

Last year, Mr. Ibu underwent surgery to amputate one of his legs, a testament to his enduring health struggles. Despite facing adversity, he remained a beloved figure in the industry, known for his humorous roles in iconic films such as “A Fool at Forty” and “Issakaba,” earning him widespread acclaim and recognition.

In the wake of his passing, tributes pour in from Mr. Ibu’s colleagues and admirers, reflecting on his remarkable contributions to Nigerian cinema and his unparalleled comedic talent.

Coinciding with Mr. Ibu’s demise is the loss of his colleague Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, also known as Sisi Quadri, who passed away on Friday and was laid to rest on Saturday in Iwo, Osun State.
