Enugu Governor Signs Electoral Commission Bill And 2 Other Bills*

The Enugu State Geographic Information System Service Bill, the New Enugu City Development Agency Bill, and the Enugu State Independence Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) (Amendment) Bill were all signed by Governor Peter Mbah on Friday.

According to the governor, the ENSIEC Law would align the state’s electoral body with 1999 Constitutional Amendments pertaining to electoral bodies.

He said that the administrative authority to oversee the creation of a new city master plan that would serve both the current and the future generations was provided by the New Enugu City Development Agency Law.

According to Mbah, the Enugu State Geographical Information System Service Law aims to automate and digitize service delivery procedures, beginning with the land-related ones.

“We know that we are very futuristic in the way we view and approach governance. We are essentially already thinking about our tomorrow. As you all know, Enugu is gradually getting to an implosion level. Since the city of Enugu was created, there has not been any attempt to expand the city to be able to accommodate more people.

“What we have witnessed today is a legal framework that allows us and even future governments to continue to expand the city,” the governor said.
