Anambra NASS Member: Southeast Development Commission Bill Will Guarantee Rapid Development

The South East Development Commission Bill, which was recently passed by the National Assembly, will ensure significant infrastructural development of the South East geopolitical zone, according to Hon. Emeka Idu, the member of the House of Representatives who represents Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency.

The South East Development Commission (SEDC) was established to oversee the South East’s infrastructure development, including the building and repair of roads, homes, and other infrastructure damages in the region, according to the federal lawmaker who praised the Senate and House of Representatives for passing the bill for third reading.

The commission will have the authority to address ecological issues as well as any other environmental or developmental challenges in the area, according to Hon. Idu. It will also be responsible for receiving and managing funds allocated from the federation account to carry out infrastructure projects in the South East.

The federal lawmaker, who served two terms in the Anambra State House of Assembly, expressed optimism that the measure, if approved by President Bola Tinubu, will lessen the South East’s marginalization and aid in the reconstruction of the area severely damaged by the civil war.

He gave the assurance that the commission has the full support of the residents of Onitsha North and South because it will facilitate the efficient growth of the constituency.
