Barr Eli Ugwu, a prominent attorney in Enugu State, was shot and killed yesterday as he went to deliver the ransom of the kidnapped victim to the kidnappers.
The entire Nsukka community is in excruciating pain as a result of the catastrophe.
Shortly after giving kidnappers who had kidnapped his relative a ransom, the lawyer was shot and killed in Kogi State.
Nonetheless, there are disputes about his passing.
According to early reports, he was shot by the kidnappers once they received the money.
“A part of us is Gone!” is what Senator Chijinkem Ugwuanyi said on Facebook. In Kogi state, he was shot killed while attempting to pay a ransom for his kidnapped relative.
“The story is not clear since yesterday but this is the much we know at the moment.”

Nevertheless, new information indicates that Ugwu and his cousin were shot dead by police when they emerged from the jungle after being freed from kidnappers.
A senior lawyer, who pleaded anonymity said that Ugwu was shot dead by policemen after delivering ransom.
“He has already successfully delivered ransom and was coming out with the victim when policemen shot them.
“Eli was shot dead but his cousin (the kidnap victim), is responding to treatment. It’s a huge blow,” he said fearfully.
Eli was an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Nsukka branch, until his passing.
Regarding the event, no statement has yet been released by the Kogi State Police command.
